MY WORDS TO AFRICAN PASTORS

(The following are my comments to the graduates of the TIGM TET School of Ministry and Theological Studies in Africa, December 19, 2025)

I am very thankful for the opportunity to share a few thoughts with you at this special time. You have come to an important place in your life and education. God has called you and is equipping you to serve Him. I thank Him for you, and for the privilege of sharing my thoughts with you at this time.

As servants of God, we have a great privilege but also a tremendous responsibility to spread God’s truth to those around us.  Millions of people in the world do not have enough food to eat. Their physical bodies suffer from malnourishment.  Even worse, though, is that many more people do not have true spiritual food to nourish their souls.  Starvation worldwide is a big problem, but even worse are those whose souls are starved because they do not know God’s Word.  Just like an unhealthy body is open to illness and death, so a person that does not know God and His truth is vulnerable to the lies and counterfeits of Satan and the world today.

I encourage you to make the Bible, God’s word, central in your life and service.  It is our duty to share it with others so their souls will be fed and their spirits come to life and grow.  The Bible is our only source of truth. John 8:32 says, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  Most people today reject God’s truth and replace it with what they determine to be truth for themselves.  If we reject God’s inspired word, there are no absolutes to guide our lives today.  Many people go by their emotions; they trust their heart for what they feel is right. Jeremiah 17:9 says “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it?”  You have the truth they need in God’s word. John 17:17 says:  “Sanctify them in the truth.  Your Word is truth.”

Your most important responsibility is to know the truth and share it with others. Continue reading and studying God’s Word. Have the courage to share it with others anytime in any way you can.  The world is in darkness.  Darkness hates the light.  But darkness cannot put out light. A little light can remove darkness but no amount of darkness can remove light. The darkness opposes your light but cannot extinguish it, so let your light shine brightly.  John 1:5 says “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Isaiah, Jeremiah and many other prophets faithfully proclaimed God’s truth to people who ignored, rejected and even killed them.  But they remained faithful.  Noah preached God’ Word for a hundred years while building the ark but only his family responded.  John the Baptist spoke against sin and evil but few paid any attention.  Stephen told God’s truth to people who claimed to follow God, but they didn’t like what he was saying so they silenced him by killing him.

Not everyone was ignored and rejected, though.  Jonah carried God’ message to the people of Nineveh and thousands repented in sackcloth and ashes.  Paul preached against occult practices in Ephesus and many burnt their evil books and occult objects.  Martin Luther took a stand against the ungodly religious practices of his day and started the Reformation.

I am proud of the commitment you have made and the work you have done. I envy the opportunity you have to live for Jesus during these last days.  I started serving him 70 years ago. If I had a hundred more lives to live, I would live everyone for God.  Serving Him is the greatest privilege and honor anyone can have. Stay faithful. Stay true. Stay pure and holy.  Do not compromise but hold God’s Word high.  As 2 Timothy 4:2 says:   “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”

What is God teaching you through His Word right now?

Pray for those in ministry who aren’t focusing on preaching the true word of God.
