STILL MORE SHARP SWORDS FOR YOUR USE

In previous blogs I shared some special Scriptures that can be very helpful in spiritual warfare.  Paul says the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, is our only offensive weapon to move ahead to victory (Ephesians 6:17).  Here are some more verses for you to be familiar with, even memorize, so you God’s Spirit can bring them to mind when you need them.

2 Thessalonians 3:3  “But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the one.”   As we face spiritual battles, we find solace in the knowledge that our God is not only faithful but also our source of strength. When we feel weak and vulnerable, His divine strength empowers us to stand firm and resolute. Moreover, the promise of protection from the evil one provides a sense of security and assurance. It reminds us that, despite the cunning and malicious tactics of the adversary, the Lord’s shield is our ultimate defense.  We don’t rely on our ability but on God’s faithfulness to keep His promises and always be with us.  He doesn’t keep us from oppression, but He faithfully helps us through it.  He never breaks His promises.  Think of a recent time when God helped you through a difficulty you were facing.  How often has that happened in the past?  Remember these the next time you face challenges or obstacles in life.

John 10:10  “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”   Not only does Jesus promise us life instead of death, He promises ABUNDANT life, life to the uttermost.  This is a good reminder that our enemy’s sole purpose is to steal our joy, peace, spiritual abundance and victory, kill us spiritually and physically and destroy everything good we have accomplished and have become.  Of course, a thief does not announce his presence, nor does he make his intentions known.  It isn’t until after he has accomplished his work that the damage is recognized.  So, it is with Satan and his forces.  There is a real life-or-death battle going on over our eternal souls.  Our only hope is Jesus, who came to free us from Satan’s bondage.  In the context of spiritual warfare, this verse emphasizes that Jesus has come to counteract the destructive forces that seek to harm and oppress. He offers abundant life, which includes spiritual vitality, freedom from the enemy’s grasp, and an overflowing richness of faith, love and purpose. This verse serves as an invitation to embrace Christ’s redemptive power, finding refuge in His abundant life even in the midst of spiritual battles and ultimately triumphing over the thief’s attempts to steal and destroy.  In what ways are you a different person because of Jesus?  What has He done to your life that wouldn’t have happened without Him?  Thank Him for each and everything you think of.

Deuteronomy 28:7  “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.”  In the spiritual battles we face this verse serves as a source of unwavering confidence. It assures us that the Lord Himself will intervene on our behalf, causing our enemies to be defeated before us.  The imagery of the enemies coming against us in one direction but fleeing in seven different directions underscores the thoroughness of God’s deliverance. In spiritual warfare, this verse becomes a symbol of the all-encompassing protection and victory we can expect when we place our trust in the Lord. It instills in us the assurance that no matter how overwhelming the opposition may seem, God’s power is greater, and He will ultimately scatter our adversaries, leaving us standing in triumph.  Who are your enemies right now?  Name those who want to see you defeated and destroyed.  Thank God for His promise of ultimate victory.

John 16:33  “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.“There are two promises in this verse, both very true.  First, we will have trouble in this world.  Second, Jesus has overcome that which causes us trouble.  Don’t be surprised by the trials, difficulties, temptations, etc. you face in life.  Don’t think you are entitled to be exempt from them.  Therefore, don’t be surprised when they come.  But don’t let them discourage you, either.  “Take heart” means focus on Jesus’  final victory, not our present battles.  He assures us that despite the trials and tribulations, He has already conquered the world and all the forces of darkness. This promise becomes a beacon of hope and a reminder that, in Christ, we can find peace even in the midst of chaos and conflict.  Peace is available, but only in Jesus.  On a scale of 1 to 10, how much peace do you have today?  What takes away your peace most quickly?  What must you do to have peace?

If Jesus Himself needed to use God’s Word to have victory over Satan’s attacks and temptations, so do we!  If it brought Jesus victory it will certainly bring us victory as well.  But these Scriptures don’t do any good unless you learn them and use them.  Keep them always handy.  You don’t know when you will need them but you will sometime.  What kind of soldier leaves his weapons at camp and tries to run back for them when attacked?  Always be prepared.  (October 12, 2026  Doylestown, PA)

Which of these verses can you use now to help you in your daily battles?

What other verses do you use to help have victory when life gets tough?  Send them to me so I can share them with others in a future blog.

Do you know of a friend who would benefit from a reminder about one of the verses?  Send them the verse now and pray for them.
