AN AFRICAN PASTOR’S MOVING TESTIMONY
I received this email from the man who heads up the work in Uganda. He is our number 2 man in Africa. He wrote: “I thank the almighty God for the divine assignment He has given me to Train, Equip and Transform Pastors and Church leaders in Uganda with support from CTO. Secondly I thank God for connecting me with Bishop Dr. Chebon,_director CTO Africa and Rev. Dr. Jerry Schmoyer_ the CTO international Director. Verily, verily; my life, marriage, family and ministry have registered tremendous transformation and this has started to spread to other lives and ministries through the greatly growing CTO programs.
“I have many testimonies to share but allow me share the one from the four days training we held at Mount Up Christian Church from 19th to 22nd, May 2025. Among the leaders we trained was a crippled elderly man named Bernard with his wife Esther. This gentleman was the founder of this ministry that hosted the training; however, he had quit ministry since the year 2011 due to Satan’s attack that made his wife immoral, engaging in adultery and selling of alcoholic drinks in the bar she opened next to their main church.
“Bernard fled to South Sudan to earn a living through construction of houses. In his sixth year in South Sudan, he became physically impaired after getting an accident while building a house. He was forced to come home since he couldn’t continue with his duties.
“After getting slight recovery at home, he crossed to Kenya due to unfriendly home situations. He started using his construction skills to earn a living and married another woman from Kenya. They stayed for two years but without producing a child.
“Bernard became sick and paralyzed and the medical personnel gave him crutches for mobility, forcing his second wife to divorce. Since he was physically impaired and without anyone to help, he travelled back to his home in Uganda last year in October.
“Since then, he had not gone to any church for prayer until Tuesday 20th May, 2025 when he was convinced to attend our training by one of the church leaders who attended our day one training on Leadership Lessons from the Bible. He and his wife responded by attending the training.
“Having attended for three days covering Leadership Lessons from the Bible and duties of Pastors, they were convicted, refreshed and transformed. The following Sunday(25th/5/2025), the couple came to church asking for forgiveness and to be recommitted into the hands of God for salvation. The church leaders prayed for them and three weeks later, Bernard received deliverance and healing. Right now, he can walk without crutches. This couple thanks God for the transformation and deliverance they have received through CTO TET programs. They have promised to reinvest their lives into ministry once again.”
PLEASE PRAY for this man and for other pastors and leaders in Africa. Serving God is never easy anywhere, but they face difficulties we don’t face in the US. Our coworker in Uganda also sent this prayer need. “Most church leaders who undergo our training face a lot of rejection, opposition and resistance from some of their senior ministry leaders who don’t want such trainings. These leaders we have trained have learned how to handle and run ministry affairs as per our training materials and yet their top ministry leaders don’t want to adjust because they feel insecure. Most of these trained but rejected and opposed leaders are opting to open their own ministries to get freedom to serve God in a proper way. How can we help such a situation as this?” Please pray for these men, and for wisdom as we give advice and guidance. What is happening in Africa is life-changing, not just another meeting for pastors.
