Great Is His Faithfulness

As Christians we are quick to share instances of God’s faithfulness in our lives.  But sometimes, when things are not going well, we tend to forget. If this is one of those times for you, I want to remind us that God is faithful.

Even when we aren’t faithful to Him, He is faithful to us.  When we are ungrateful for His blessings, He is still faithful.  When we forget Him and put other things first, He is remains faithful.  When we are too busy to pray or read the Bible His faithfulness continues.  When we doubt His love or goodness, He is still faithful.  Even when we are in sin, He remains faithful to us.

We see God’s faithful His promises to Israel (Deuteronomy 7:9).  God promised Noah that He would keep him safe (genesis 6:17-18; 9:9-17).  He kept His promise to return the Jews to their land (Zechariah 8:7-8).  God faithfully in sent His Son to die for our sins as promised (Hebrews 5:5-10).  He kept His promise to bring Him back to life (Matthew 16:21; 27:62-64).

God is faithful.  He cannot lie nor can He break a promise (Hebrews 6:18; Numbers 23:19).  God is faithful (1 John 1:9; 1 Corinthians 10:13).

Life changes. Life isn’t what we planned or expected.  The future may be uncertain.  Our country is challenged politically, racially and economically.  We face a virus we can’t defeat.  There are protests and rioting in the streets nightly.  Churches can’t function normally.  Everything is thrown off kilter.  But God is faithful.  Sing with me: “Great is Your faithfulness, O God my father.  There is no shadow of turning in thee.  Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not.  Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.”  Let that great hymn play in your mind and heart throughout the day.

1 Corinthians 1:9 “God, who has called you into fellowship with His son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.”

2 Thessalonians 3:3  “The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.”

If you need some reassurance today about God’s faithfulness, look up the references in the blog and read them.  Pick out some that really speak to you.  Write them down and read them over and over until you memorize them.  At the end of the blog are many great promises you can use!

FEAR

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Ps. 118:6

PEACE

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:7

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13
