MARKS OF A CULT
1. DYNAMIC LEADER – who attracts a following
2. NEW REVELATION – equal or superior to Bible
3. ONE TRUE CHURCH – only they have full truth
4. “LAST DAYS” BELIEF – living in last days & they alone are warning the world
5. ZEALOUS EVANGELISM – work at making converts
6. SEPARATION – from the world; self-sacrificing
7. 100% COMMITMENT – of self, $ Money, time, etc.
8. INDOCTRINATION – intensive training for new converts
9. AUTHORITARIAN GOVERNMENT – strong, domineering leadership structure
10. PERSECUTION COMPLEX – paranoid, assume all will persecute them
11. “GOOD WORKS” – earn salvation by good works
12. WRONG ABOUT CHRIST – compromise His deity and/or unique role as Savior

WITNESSING TO THE CULTS
1 Pet 3:15 “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”
1. DON’T ARGUE OR GET ANGRY, know they will be closed, antagonistic and dogmatic
2. PRAY TOGETHER, out loud, and pray individually to rebuke their deception
3. SHOW LOVE, PATIENCE, don’t be prideful, gospel is GOOD news
4. BE PERSONAL, develop trust, get to know and respect them as a person
5. DEFINE TERMS, what is meant by grace, salvation, Christ, etc. – don’t assume!
6. START AT THE BEGINNING, they know enough Scripture to confuse most believers, so start in the beginning (Adam & Eve) and build plan of salvation from there
7. FOLLOW UP – keep praying and reaching out
8. STICK TO THE BIBLE, show why you believe the Bible is God’s Word, insist that the Bible
be the final authority on everything
