NAME
Islam (the religion) = in Arabic “escape danger by submission to Allah”
Muslim, Moslem (the people) = those who submit to Allah
Mohammeds = don’t like being called this, say they worship Allah and not Mohammed

AUTHORITY
GOD-INSPIRED BOOKS:
1. Torah (Pentateuch: Genesis through Deuteronomy)
2. Zabur (Psalms of David)
3. Injil (Gospel of Jesus)
4. KORAN – final word, supersedes & overrules all others
114 chapters, scrambled & confused, sayings of Mohammed gathered after death
Contains precepts & laws (religious & civil), admonitions to unbelievers, histories, etc.
Contradicts Bible: Jesus NOT God (Surah 4:171), not die on cross (Surah 4:157)

VIEW of GOD
ALLAH (Only monothiestic religions are Judaism, Christianity and Islam)
God impersonal (to call Him “Father” is blasphemy), could not beget a Son!

VIEW of the TRINITY
Believing in the Trinity is the unpardonable sin

VIEW of CHRIST
Good teacher only, one of the prophets, will return to preach Islam doctrine until world Muslim

VIEW of the HOLY SPIRIT
No such thing

VIEW of SIN
Work off own sin, no assurance of forgiveness

VIEW of SALVATION
Earn by keeping the 5 pillars:
1. Daily recite “There is one God, Allah, & Mohammed is His prophet.”
2. Pray 5 times a day (dawn, midday, midafternoon, right after sunset, 2 hours after sunset)
3. Fasting during days of Ramadan (9th month) during daylight hrs; hear or read Koran once
4. Give 25% to poor and needs
5. Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime

VIEW of HEAVEN & HELL
HEAVEN: oasis in the desert where served wonderful meals by wide-eyed virgins
HELL: burning desert where drink boiling water forever
